Today on Aamir Khan’s 53rd birthday, we revisit the box-office figures of the superstar’s movies that have made a smashing entry in the 100 crore club in the last decade.
By 2012, Rs 100 crore had become a new benchmark for a film to be declared a hit, and those affiliated with the 100 crore club were considered to be a part of the elite strata in the Bollywood.
And a lot of Aamir Khan’s films were members of this new-found honorable club.
Ghajini, released in 2008, was the 1st movie to net Rs 100 crore at the box-office, followed by 3 Idiots (2009) with Rs 200 crore, Dhoom 3 (2013) with Rs 300 crore, PK (2014) with Rs 500 crore. Dangal (2016) broadened Aamir Khan’s box-office power to Rs 700 crore and finally Secret Superstar with Rs 400 crore in 2017.
Dhoom 3 Pic
Leave aside Rs 100 crore club, interestingly; Aamir Khan is the first Bollywood actor to register his name in the 1000 crore club, as well as Dangal, crossed Rs 1000 crore mark including its collections from China and other overseas markets.
Aamir Khan with his calculated style of filmmaking, where he is involved with all aspects of the process, makes the audience yearn for his films even more and each time the experience becomes bigger and richer. Be it 3 Idiots, PK or Dangal- all have set new benchmarks.
Thugs Of Hindostan
And now everyone eagerly awaits his next venture, Thugs Of Hindostan, in which he will create magic with Amitabh Bachchan for the first time, along with Katrina Kaif and Fatima Sana Shaikh. The film is slated to hit theatres this Christmas.
